The lifeless body of a female evangelist was recently discovered in a hotel room where she allegedly lodged with the Bishop of her church.

The deceased, a 43-year-old woman and mother of five identified as Happiness Echieze was an evangelist at the Agape Evangelical Ministeries (City of Miracles), located at the Obikabia Junction in the Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State.

Mrs Echieze and the General Overseer of the ministry, Bishop Timothy Otu had on Thursday, August 12, 2023, around 9.23pm reportedly lodged in a hotel known as Jubilee Guest House Ovom, Ogborhill and suspectedly had sex.

According to reports, Mrs Echieze’s naked lifeless body was later discovered in the room around midnight after the clergyman left the hotel without any traces.

In a recent development, the Eastern Ngwa Police Station in Obingwa Local Government said it arrested Bishop Otu.

The Police revealed that the Bishop who booked the room with her, absconded after deceiving the receptionist that he was going to buy food at that time of the night, adding that a source had similarly revealed how the manager of the Hotel who suspected foul play, immediately reported to the Eastern Ngwa Police Station in Obingwa Local Government Area around 1am on Sunday morning.

“The woman was lying naked with foam coming out of her mouth and nose When officers of the Nigerian Police went to the hotel,” according to reports.

Sources also said that when her Phone was opened, it was discovered that the woman and mother of Five Children had a romantic relationship with the clergyman as their discussions via text messages revealed this.

A report by the Whistlerng revealed that the Police Officers traced the Bishop to his Church at Obikabia Junction, attended his Sunday Service and arrested him after he had preached a sermon about repentance.

Meanwhile, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Maureen Chinaka while speaking to journalists, Thursday, disclosed that the suspects has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for proper investigation.

The PPRO also stated that Otu of the Agape Evangelical Ministry had been helping the police in the investigation to unravel the cause of the lady’s death.

In her statement, the Chinaka said, “On August 13, 2023, around 9.30am, Mr Godwin Akpan residing at Jubilee Guest House in Ovom Village, Obingwa Local Government Area reported to the Isialangwa Police Division that on the evening of August 12, 2023, around 9.25pm, a clergyman named Timothy Otu associated with Agape Evangelical Ministry at Obikabia Junction in Obingwa LGA, checked into the guest house along with a woman named Happiness Echieze from Isialangwa LGA, Abia State. Happiness Echieze was 43 years of age.

“Further details provided by Mr Akpan indicated that on the same date, around midnight, he entered the hotel room of the aforementioned clergyman and discovered the lifeless body of Happiness Echieze. She was found unclothed, and a white substance was emanating from her mouth and nose. Regrettably, the clergyman was absent from the scene.

“Preliminary investigations have been launched into this matter. The deceased’s body has been transported from the location and is currently at the SDA Mortuary in Aba, awaiting an autopsy.

“Additionally, the suspect in this case has been apprehended and the case has been transferred to the State CID for discreet investigations.”

The late Evangelist, Happiness hails from Umuatakawom in Obingwa. Xclusiveloaded learnt that her husband was at work in Bayelsa State when the ugly incident happened.
